My GG-Grandfather Joseph BRADFORD was born around 1798 in North
Carolina.

The 1820 census of Jefferson County, IL shows George, Abner, and Samuel

BRADFORD. Joseph is assumed to be the son of one of these three men.
(All three have children living with them). Joseph named his first son
Samuel.

Joseph and Abner served in the Black Hawk War of 1832. Abner was killed

in the battle of Kelloggs Grove, while Joseph lost his horse and saddle
in the same battle. Joseph died after 1880, and is buried in an
unmarked grave in Williams Cemetery near Mt. Vernon, IL.

Does anyone out there have any clues or links to this person? I am
hoping to find the connection to NC. Several of the posts from NC have
given names such as Joseph, Samuel, and Abner.
