Subject: [BRADFORD-L] Word of the week....webpages
Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 07:58:04 PDT

Hello lists. First off, let me welcome all the new subscribers of my
lists (50 total just this past week! YEAH! hehe) Right now, I'm going
to explain the "word of the week", so those who know it may skip down,
if you're not familiar, please read the next paragraph:

I have had trouble with getting very little mail to the lists and so in
an effort to get more people posting and helping them to hopefully make
connections, I have implemented the "word of the week" (although it's
not necessarily every week like clock-work). What I do is throw out a
word or phrase (like John, North Carolina, Immigrants, etc.) and anyone
who has any info that concerns the word of the week should post that
info.

Now, this week, the word is "webpages" and what I am referring to is if
any of you can tell the lists about a good web page that has info that
may help them (such as a family page for the surname of "Black", etc. or
just a general page that you've found to be very helpful in your
research in some way), send it to the list. Let me make a note here
that do not send your address as a link with html code because it may
not come through to the list. A lot of email servers and programs now
days will automatically make a webpage address a link without the html
code. If your email program doesn't do that, then I would suggest to
just copy and paste it.

REMINDER HOW TO SEND POSTS:
To send a post to the list, send it to where the
surname of the list (either Barringer, Black, Bradford, Coventry, Eller,
Hackett, or Kern) replaces SURNAME above. Do NOT send them to
as the "-request" part of the address is
ONLY for subscribing and unsubscribing and it will not get through to
the list. Also, do NOT send them to me or just click reply to this
message. You need to start a whole new message. Please note that CAPS
are only for emphasis and are not shouting:). Have a good day and good
luck everyone. By the way, if any of the pages you send to the list are
not already linked to my page below, I will probably eventually link
them:)
