>Rebecca Pace was born in VA and married John Bradford. Their daughter,
Rebecca, married her stepbrother, Joel Aycock. However, the birth dates I
have for both Joel and Rebecca Bradford Aycock do not agree with the dates
for Rebecca and John Bradford as her parents. I would appreciate hearing
from anyone who has this line and can give me the correct dates.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Rebecca Pace was born in Virginia and married John Bradford in Prince
George Co, VA in 1718. Their children Richard, Nathaniel, John, Frances,
Rebecca (b. abt 1728-1734) and Sarah were born in North Carolina between
1719 and 1735 when John Bradford died.

According to Boddie in "Virginia Historical Genealogies", John Bradford's
neighbor on Beaver Pond Creek in Brunswick Co, VA was John Moore who
married Tabitha Pace, sister of Rebecca Pace. Their father, Richard Pace's
will probated in Bertie Co, NC 12 Mar 1736 mentions seven married daughters
including Tabitha Moore and Rebecca Bradford. Furthermore, Richard Pace
patented 285 acres of land in Prince George Co on 12 Jul 1718 which he
subsequently assigned or gave to John Bradford.

In 1741, Rebecca married William Aycock and moved to Wilkes Co, GA.

According to "Adventures of Purse and Person"; Rebecca Pace was
great-granddaughter of Richard and Isabella Smyth Pace who came to Virginia
before 1616 from Middlesex, England and were thus both considered "Ancient
Planters". Their plantation,"Pace's Paines" was on the south side of the
James River across the river from Jamestown. On 22 Mar 1622, Chanco, a
Christian Indian treated as a son by Richard Pace, revealed the Indian plot
to massacre the white settlers to Pace who rowed across the James River and
warned the Governor, saving the colony from extinction. Although 347 were
slain along the frontier in the massacre the next day, nearly a thousand
were saved by the advance warning.
