Well, i am glad that book helped you get started on the road to genealogy,
but as far as enealogical value, it's doesn't have very much. I do realize
that it can help some get interested in genealogy and that is great and if
they want to spend that much money, then I have no problem. The reason I
posted that to the list though is because those people on the list have
already started their genealogy and don't need that book to jump start them
into it. All these people on the list I imagine have access of some form or
another to the internet and I simply wanted to point out that they could get
the same info from the internet that is in that book. Yes, I did violate my
own rules of posting, but my rules of posting scams and hoaxes is 2 part. I
don't want people posting virus info to the list because about 99% of it is
not true, HOWEVER, if a person personally received a virus warning from a
company, such as IBM or microsoft, or whatever, and this is a virus that
really does exist, then by all means they are free to post that to the list.
The other part I don't want posting of scams/hoaxes to the list that aren't
relevant in the genealogy world...which obviously that about Halbert's is
relevant and Halbert's is not a hoax, They have many law suits on their
hands as it is now because of the scams they run. It is illegal for
Halbert's to send these solicitations in the mail. This is why I wanted to
warn people about this. Again, I'm glad that this book has helped you, that
is terrific, but for the most part, people wouldn't agree with you. Good
luck in your search. By the way, what Halbert's book did you get? for
Pfeifer or for Bradford?
