<<This sounds really close. Most of my Bradfords moved from Charles City,
VA to Granville County NC. There are 2 brothers, Thomas Bradford (b. 1731)
and David (b. 1754) Bradford, in one of the families. David's death is listed
after 1797 but Thomas' death is listed in 1786. However, there is another
Bradford family in Orange County that has brothers, Thomas and David. This
David was born in 1758 but this Thomas was born in 1783. That would make him
pretty young to witness a will. they had a sister, Sarah born in 1760.
THERE WAS A WILL OF JACOB GARRISON IN ORANGE COUNTY WRITTEN 5 MAY 1829;
PROBATED AUGUST OF 1832 IN WHICH JACOB LEFT $500 FOR THOMAS BRADFORD WHO HAD
MARRIED JACOB'S DAUGHTER. HE DID NOT NAME THE DAUGHTER; SHE MAY HAVE
PREDECEASED HER FATHER. A DAVID BRADFORD WAS MARRIED TO ELINOR FAUCET, 3 JUNE
1806 (THERE WAS A LOT OF INTERMARRIAGE AMONG THE KING, BIRD, FAUCETT AND
BRADFORD FAMILIES DURING THIS TIME PERIOD. A WILLIAM BRADFORD WAS NOTED AS
BEING A NEIGHBOR OF JAMES BIRD IN AN ORANGE COUNTY DEED RECORDED 25 OCTOBER
1782. WILLIAM'S WILL OF 28 DECEMBER 1821 LISTED HIS CHILDREN AS DAVID
BRADFORD, THOMAS BRADFORD, JOSEPH BRADFORD, ELIZABETH BRADFORD, MARGARET
BRADFORD, JANE BRADFORD, AND SARAH BRADFORD. THERE WAS A NANCY "ANN" BRADFORD
WHO WAS MARRIED TO THOMAS BIRD, SON OF JAMES BIRD OF CASWELL COUNTY. I AM
RELATED TO NANCY BRADFORD'S DESCENDANTS THROUGH THE BIRD CONNECTION; JAMES
BIRD IS MY GGGGRANDFATHER. ONE OF DAVID BRADFORD'S GRANDSON'S, WILLIAM JAMES
BRADFORD, ACCORDING TO DAVID'S WILL, MARRIED NANCY BIRD IN 1846.
Then, the first Thomas listed about (b. 1731) had 2 sons Thomas and David,
both of whom would be just the right ages to witness the will but they were
both born in Granville County, NC.
There is a Sarah Bradford born in Northampton NC in 1740. I have long
believed (no proof) that the Bradfords/Kings/Trusses had all intermarried
before they moved to Alabama, where they also intermarried. All 3 families
moved to St. Clair County, AL within a year or 2 of each other and many of the
names run through all 3 families.
I'll keep looking and let you know what I find out. I wouldn't be at all
surprised if my Thomas King (the earliest one) and your John King were
brothers.
