I can't definitely link the Thomas Bradfords in my family to yours but I
believe they are probably of the same family. My Bradfords were PROLIFIC
breeders!

I work with a lady who is also a descendant of your Thomas Bradford and we
have been trying to connect the families.

My ancestor, Richard Bradford born c. 1636 in England. He married in Charles
City Cty, VA before 1661 and died there in 1716. He had a son, Richard
Bradford II, born c. 1660 in Charles City Cty., VA. He married Frances Taylor
and he died there in 1724. They had Richard III, John, Phileman, Thomas, and
Ralph. I don't know about daughters.

This is where it gets really complicated. All of the sons tended to name
their sons after their brothers. Richard III had 2 sons--Richard IV and John.
Richard III's brother John had sons, Richard, John, and Nathaniel. Richard
III's brother, Phileman (my ancestor) had sons named Thomas, Phileman, G.
Richard, John, and David.

Richard III's brother, Thomas, had sons named Nathaniel, William, Henry,
Richard, and Thomas!

To make it worse, their sons tended to use the same names, too.

Brothers Richard III, Phileman, and Thomas moved to North Carolina. Richard
and Phileman to Granville County and Thomas to Northampton County. Brother
John stayed in Virginia. His will was filed in Brunswick County, VA. I have
no info on Brother Ralph. I estimate that the birthdates of these brothers
may range from 1680 to 1710. Their father was born about 1660.

The only other info I have on descendants are for my branch after that. They
moved to St. Clair Cty, Alabama in about 1824.

Now we go to your Thomas Bradford!. My info comes from a descendant from
Nashville, GA. He was a lieutenant in the Revolution and his grave was marked
by the U.S. Government about 1920 or 30???

His wife, Elizabeth Marshall, born about 1759 in Virginia, was supposed to be
related to John Marshall, first supreme court justice. About 1796, Thomas &
Elizabeth moved to Montgomery County, GA with James Griffin. Thomas &
Elizabeth had 7 children, 4 of whom married children of James Griffin. In
1827, Thomas & Elizabeth & most of their children moved to Irwin County, GA.
as did James Griffin. Thomas Bradford was a country doctor. He died when he
was about 85 years old sometime in the 1840s. He & James Griffin were buried
near each other near Lax, GA.

My friend who is descended from this Thomas Bradford is descended from his
son, Jacob. I have quite a bit of info on them if anyone is interested. I
don't swear by the accuracy of this info--just family tradition!

If you make any connections between the 2 Bradford families, would you let me
know?
