OBITUARIES

"Isabella Bradford -- Miss Isabella Bradford, 77, of 1440 W. Laurel St., died
at 7:00 p.m., Monday (Nov 8) at Memorial Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas P. (Bradford) and Rosina Wheeler,
early settlers of Sangamon County, for which the settlement of Bradfordton
was named. She was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended
Christian College in Columbia, MO.

For five years, Miss Bradford was employed by Child and Family Service and
then served for 21 years as Executive Secretary of the Sangamon County
Chapter of the American Red Cross, resigning in 1951. After her resignation
as Executive Secretary she served as Disaster Worker in several locations.
Her particular interest was in the historical development of Sangamon
County. She served as President of the Sangamon County Historical Society,
1969 to 1970, after having been active in its founding and one of its
membership chairmen. Miss Bradford was a member of First Congregational
Church, Zonta, YWCA, Springfield Garden Club and founder of the Rose Bradford
Guild.

Surviving are three cousins, Waldo L. Wheeler of New Albany, Ind., Helen B.
Jenison and Virginia D. DeLong, both of Phoenix, Ariz.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel with
Rev. Arthur Koch officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery."
