For those researching the Feezle name.
The following is from my unpublished family history:
"Elizabeth Mary Jane KILGORE Boles received a partial interest in
some land in Greene County from her father, James Kilgore. She and
her husband, John Boles, sold that interest to Henry Feezle, by deed
dated 15 October 1846 as follows (Deed Book 22 pages 198-199):
"We John Bowls and his wife Eliza M. J. formerly Eliza M. J.
Kilgore, daughter and heir at law of James Kilgore decd, have
bargained and sold, and do herby transfer and convey to Henry Feezle,
for the Consideration of Two hundred and twenty two dollars and fifty
cents, to us paid, a tract of Land in the State of Tennessee, Greene
County and District No. 5 containing by estimation Sixty Six acres
and bounded as follows: (here follows the meets and bounds survey) -
- - and for the consideration aforesaid, we have in like manner Sold
and hereby convey to the said Henry Feezle, all our right claim and
interest in the Dower of Margaret Kifer, late Margaret Kilgore in the
lands of the said James Kilgore decd - - -.
Witness our hands and seals this 15th day of October 1846
Signed, sealed and delivered) John Bowles (seal)
in our presence on date) her
Jno Shield ) Eliza M. J. X Bowles (seal)
Jas McNew ) mark"
The price of $3.50 per acre was quite high for that time.
This deed provides us with names and relationships which are of much
value. In this case, it appears that the widow of James Kilgore was
Margaret Kilgore and that she may have forfeited her dowry by
marrying a Kifer."
Samuel Feezle (age 30-40) Farming was recorded on page 28 of the 1840
Census of Greene County.
There was a Patton Feezle (age 18 farmer) living with my William Milo
Ferguson family in the 1860 Census of Greene Sounty at No. 860.
All of the above were in the vicinity of the Bright Hope Furnace.
There are many references to Henry Feezle in my Transcription of the
Bright Hope Furnace Ledger at:
