If you go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~txfannin/s.html
you will find a photograph of the cover of an old book entitled,
"Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas, Illustrated"
"containing biographical sketches of the representative public and
many early settled families" Pub. 1889, Chicago, F.A. Battey and
Company.
Christine Haw has typed up the complete index of the sketches
in the book. But for Bowles (no Boles), I found these in the index:
