Died on American Soil
Eagle Pass, Tex., March 10. - Mr. Calvin Bowles, a young man,
well-known on the frontier, was brought across the bridge
from Mexico to the United States yesterday while breathing
his last. He had been sick for some weeks and yesterday the
attending physician informed him that he had but a few
moments to live. He desired to be interred in his native
land, and as the shipment of a body out of Mexico is attended
with great delay and expense, he was tenderly carried across
the bridge while yet living, only to die as he touched
American soil. The body was shipped to his home in Uvalde.
