Donavan "Donnie" Ray Black, 53, of Portland, TN died on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at his residence.

A Portland native, he was born on May 26, 1951 to the late Minnie Bell Scott and Herschel Black. He was a machinist at Caraustar Industries.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Black, and son-in-law, Troy King.

He is survived by: his wife, Carol Freeman Black; two daughters, Kimberly Black King and Tori Black, both of Portland; one son, Ty Black of Portland; four sisters, Clarise (George Harris) Lehman of Portland, Ophelia Couts of Springfield, Mary Patricia (Terry) Roberts of Franklin, KY, and Ella Mae Black of Springfield; three brothers, Hobert (Ginna) Black of Hendersonville, Lloyd (Beverly) Black of Portland and James (Judy) Black of Portland; two grandchildren, Ashley Black and Alyssa Black; and in-laws, Dorris and Roy Stinson of Portland and Elaine and Carl Freeman of Gallatin.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Portland Funeral Chapel. Brother Clayton Hall and Gina (Black) Duke officiated the ceremony. Burial was at Groves Family Cemetery in Robertson County.

Memorials may be made to the Donnie Black Fund, c/o Cumberland Bank 420 Hwy. 52 W., Portland, TN 37148.
