Nancy,

Records in both the LDS database and in family records in Rootsweb show that Lieutitia (sometimes seen as Letitia or Leutitia) F. Black was married to Benjamin Anderson on either the 28th or 30th of September 1841 (depending on what records you believe) in Coles County, Illinois. Some records indicate that Lieutitia was born in 1824 in Indiana but it is more likely that she was born in 1823 in Coles or Clark County, Illinois as one of her brothers, i.e., Josiah Oglethorpe Black, was born on 10 July 1824 in Coles County, Illinois. Lieutitia also had a sister, Rebecca F. Black, who was born on 6 October 1822 in Indiana and another younger brother, James Shuler Black, who was born on 25 February 1827 in Clark County, Illinois. Lieutitia died in Coles County, Illinois in 1855 probably as a result of complications during childbirth. Her parents were Josiah Black (b. 11 September 1792 in Lincoln County, Kentucky and d. 22 April 1839 in Oakland, Coles County, Illinois) and Susa!
nnah Ried Ashmore (b. 23 March 1798 in Greeneville County, Tennessee and d. 9 July 1862 in Oakland, Coles County, Illinois, and married Josiah on 14 August 1821 in Clark County, Illinois). This lineage goes back to Josiah Black and Rebecca Oglethorpe from Kentucky. Benjamin Anderson remarried after Lieutitia's death to Elizabeth Ruth Ashmore on 30 July 1860. Benjamin Anderson died on 30 July 1890 in Pleasant Valley, Saline County, Kansas. Some records show that Lieutitia married a second time to William Decatur Busby on 3 April 1845 in Coles County, Illinois. I personally do not believe that this is the case as William Busby actually married a Lettitia A. Black and not Lieutitial F. Black (which the Illinois State Marriage Records show as being the correct name and spelling as well as the spouse being Benjamin Anderson). Hope that this helps some and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Arlin Benjamin
