Karen,

My information on your Allan Black is quite limited and restricted to data available within the LDS database. I do know that Allan Black and Margaret Wilkie were married in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland in about 1845 and had three children of record, i.e., Georgina Dixon Black (b. Christened 3 September 1848 in Michael Street United Presbyterian Church, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland), Hector Black (b. 27 April 1857 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland), and William Black (b. 22 October 1859 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland). I believe from the limited records available that Allan and Margaret's first son, Hector, was named after Allan's father. The LDS records show that a Hector Black of Greenock, Renfrew Scotland married Marion McClour (McClewr) on 26 August 1809 in Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, Scotland and had a son Allan who was born 8 July 1810 in Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew, Scotland. This Hector Black likely married a second time to Mary Henderson (b. March 1796), the daughter of Ge!
orge Henderson and Mary Buchanan, on 14 February 1816 in West or Old Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland. From this marriage at least one son was born, i.e., Hector (a step-brother to Allan) who was born 4 August 1818 in West or Old Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland. The LDS records do not take Hector senior back in time so his parents remain unknown. There were probably other children born to Hector and Marion and Hector and Mary but the LDS software frequently does not list all the children based on knowing the parent's names even though the information is imbeded in the database records. Thus, it is a trial and error process using your best guess at given names and trying to match these names with the right time and place. Hopes this helps a little and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
