Jeff,
From what little research I have done on your Black Family lineage, it appears that the Josiah Oglethorpe Black (b. 10 July 1824 in Coles County, Illinois and d. 10 September 1877 in Oakland, Coles County, Illinois) is certainly not the Josiah Black who married Rachel Clements. Josiah Oglethorpe Black (b. 10 July 1824) is the son of Josiah M. Black (b. 11 September 1792 in probably Logan County, Kentucky and d. 22 April 1839 in Oakland, Coles County, Illinois) and Susannah Reid Ashmore and married Margaret Ann Perkins (b. 22 September 1828 in Virginia and married Josiah on 29 December 1845 in Coles County, Illinois). This Josiah's grandparents were Josiah Black and Rebecca Oglethorpe. On the other hand, your Josiah Black was born in 1806 in Kentucky and married Rachel Clements probably on 22 December 1831 in Kentucky (The Illinois State Marriage Records do not show your Josiah having been married in Illinois but do show Josiah Oglethorpe Black having married Margaret Ann !
Perkins in Coles County, Illinois.). Your Josiah appears in the 1850 Champaign County, Illinois Census with his family and nine children including Thomas M. Black. Your Josiah also appears in the 1860 Guthrie County, Iowa Census with his wife Rachel and several unmarried children including Thomas M. Black. I have found no web based genealogical records that identify the parents of your Josiah Black. However, I also can not find a connection between your Josiah and that of Josiah Black and Rebecca Oglethorpe as I believe they are from separate Kentucky Black Family lineages. Wish I had all the answeres but hope this gives you some food for thought.
