It is possible that your Lachlan is in the same Black family. But it is likely your Lachlan would be a brother to my Donald based on dates. Here is what i have:
my grandmother Annabelle Black dob 5 Sep 1887 in Ontario. Her father was Donald Black forn 17 Nov 1844 in Scotland. His wife was Sarah born about 1842 in Scotland.
Donald's father was Lachlan born about 1800 in Scotland and married Isabella McDougal about 1829 in Argyll Scotland.
Some info i took from the 1881 Ontario Cencus, and some from a book about ontario pioneers which included Donald Black and his family.
