Augustus George Black was born to John and Lydia Smith Black in Cumberland MD in l847. John was born in l803 in Ireland and died in 1872 supposedly in Marion Co. WV. His tombstone is in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV. Lydia was born in 1821 to John and May Dick Smith. She died in 1888 and is buried alongside John. John was a hotel keeper in MD. The family moved to WV and he bacame a farmer. There were 10 children in the family. Augustine {sic} George and Margaret's children were George, Charles, Gertrude and John Henry. My gggrandfather was Frances J. Black, oldest child of John and Lydia. p.s. Was John Henry a doctor?
