My earliest Black ancestor I have been able to trace is James Black (b. 03/19/1825 d. 01/1891.) According to the 1880 US census (Walker County, AL), he was born in AL, his father in Ireland and his mother in SC.

James was married to Elizabeth Peake abt. 1845 in Walker County. Elizabeth was born abt. 1829 ( I have no death date.)

They had seven children (William, Anne, John Marian, Benjamin, Nancy, Francis.)

If anyone has any further information on my Black line I would love to compare notes.
