The George born in 1818 is also my brick wall. He is my great, great, great grandfather. I have also heard through family lore that Black is an americanized version of Schwartz. In addition, there is a story about 6 brothers who made it as far as Ohio together and then lost track of each other which, if true, would mean that just about anyone you meet named Black could be family.
Finally, my dad told me that my grandfather used to say we were "Pennsylvanis Dutch" which translates to German. So, It think my next plan of attack is to pursue the German/Scwartz angle and see if I get anywere. I'd be happy to share info if I come up with any.
