Arlin,
Although this is not my William Black, there certainly seems to be a connection. All the info you provided indicates that there may be some sort of family conection, especially at the McCloy end. Therefore, at the moment, I'm most interested in the Neal McCloy - Jane Dickson family. I have only ever had three children from the union....
MARY - married Robert Spencer and died in 1817 and is buried in Strasburg, Lancaster County, PA
ALEXANDER - married Miss Binkley and I believe went to Sterling, Illinois.
NANCY - sometimes referred to as ANN - my line.
I have very little info on the McCloy line. Neal McCloy (according to my records) died in 1843 in Soudersburg, PA (unsure what county that is.) I don't know where he is buried and have no further info on he or his wife. I'd appreciate anything you are willing to share. Much of my info comes from my great-grandmother's papers. She was married to William Black Bishop and she wrote down a good bit of information from her father-in-law, William Bayard Bishop (1850-1947). Due to his family situation: his mother died when he was an infant, and his father was in the Civil War and never returned to care for his children, William and his sister spent much of their childhood in the care of many relatives and friends. Maybe we can find a connection between our two William Blacks through the McCloys!
Vicki
