George,
My research generally is focused on the Black Family and not the Jones Family. However, based primarily on the research performed by James Sumner Proffitt on the Jones lineages, the Lemuel Jones who married Sarah Kirkpatrick was the son of Stephen Jones (b. 28 October 1767 in Harford County, Maryland). Lemuel's mother is unknown according to all the records that I have seen but it likely could not have been Elizabeth Black as she was born in 1787. This Jones lineage is primarly centered in Harford County, Maryland as at least five generations of this family resided in or near there. Lemuel's lineage is as follows: Stephen Jones/Unknown Spouse; William Jones (b. 20 January 1722/1723 in Harford County, Maryland and d. 1769 in Maryland)/Elizabeth Williams (b. 1733 in Harford County, Maryland and married William Jones on 22 January 1750/1751 in Harford County, Maryland); Jacob Jones (b. 1698 in Harford County, Maryland and d. 28 April 1729 in Maryland)/Elizabeth Stevens !
(b. 1700 in Harford County, Maryland and married Jacob Jones in 1719); John Jones (b. ~1670 in Maryland)/Martha Loveill (Married John Jones on 8 July 1695 in Maryland); Jacob Jones (b. ~1644 maybe in Maryland but possibly migrated to Maryland via Virginia from Western Europe)/ Elizabeth Stevens (Married Jacob Jones on 9 January 1666/1667). The most reliable records that I have seen indicate that Sarah Kirkpatrick was born on 10 January 1789 in Monroe County, Kentucky and died on 15 September 1853 in Illinois and is buried in Bager Cemetery, Schuyler County, Illinois (Maybe Lemuel is also buried there?). Sarah appears to have married Lemuel Jones in 1805 in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, Kentucky. I suggest that you contact James Sumner Proffitt at and see if he can provide you more information on the individuals that I have shown above plus give you some better insight on the migration path of this Jones family. Afraid that this is all that I have!
due to available time to research your lineage. Even if the above is
correct, no reward is deserved on my part.
