Hello:

I am looking for any information on families named Phillips and Black. This
Mahala Phillips Black is buried in Tennga, GA. She was born Oct. 4, 1841 in TN.
She died April 24, 1911 in TN. She first married a Joseph Phillips. This Joseph
was killed in a mining accident, I think in TN. She also had children before
she married Joseph. They were not married long until he was killed. On 3-27-
1872 Mahala married John Black in Murray co., GA.

I am not sure of her maiden name. I don't know if she was a Phillips before she
married Joseph Phillips, or if her maiden name was something else, but on the
1870 census for Murray Co., GA she was listed in hose by herself with the last
name of Phillips with these children: John, age 6, Robert, age 2. She might
have had a child with Joseph Phillips. Then when she married John Black, they
had some children also.

I am very interested any any information on any families named Phillips, or
Black that lived in the Polk county area around 1800 to 1900. If any one can
help me out, it would be appreciated, and thank you.

Does anyone have the 1850 census for Polk county, TN?

Carolyn Sutton
