Diana,

My records show that your Archibald "Archie" Black married Jane King on 20 June 1852 in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland and according to LDS records had the following children all of whom were born in Dalkeith, i.e., Jane King Black (b. 20 September 1856); John Black (b. 25 December 1867); Marion Mary Black (b. 2 October 1865); Agnes King Black (b. 10 May 1863); Robert King Black (b. 23 December 1858); and Alison Cheyne Black (b. 7 January 1861). There is no record of a David Black who you state was born in 1854. However, the 1881 British Census shows a David Black who was born in ~1844 in Tipto, Northumberland, England and living in Newcastle On Tyne St. Nicholas, Northumberland, England with his wife Robina (b. in Scotland) and son John W. B. Black. This David Black lists his occupation as a jewellers porter. I have found no connection between this David Black and your Archibald Black but web based data on this family is extremely limited. Hope this helps some.

Arlin Benjamin
