Phoebe,

The only William Anderson Black that I have a record of that fits your time frame and also served in the Confederate Army was born 20 January 1845 in Rockingham County, North Carolina and died on 8 October 1921 in Weakley County, Tennessee. William was the son of Mitchell C. Black and Rachael A. Barker Black who came to Weakley County, Tennesse from Rockingham County, North Carolina sometime during the 1850s. William married Bina Catherine Foster who was born 16 January 1847 in North Carolina and died 20 May 1929 in Weakley County, Tennessee and is buried with William in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Weakley County. William and Bina had the following children of record, i.e., James W. (b. ~1870 in Tennessee), Edward (b. 1 May 1874 in Tennessee and married Sally Bertha Unknown and had one child Lofton Black [b. 14 August 1900]), Foster (b. 19 December 1880 in Tennessee and d. 27 August 1959 in Weakley County, Tennessee, and married Lizzie Unknown and had one child Bessie !
Lorene Black [b. 15 August 1906]), and Ethel (b. 20 March 1884 in Tennessee and d. 4 December 1958 in either Carroll County or Weakley County, Tennessee, and married James Elijah Neal). Afraid that this is all that I have and hope it is the William Anderson Black you have been looking for.

Arlin Benjamin
