Danny,

I have very little data on the Elizabeth Ann Stringer (b. 1831 in Indiana and d. 1 April 1901 in Missouri) who married Israel Black (b. 25 December 1826 in Tennessee and d. 21 April 1914 in Dent County, Missouri) in 1847 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. However, Israel Black was the son of William David Black (b. 16 December 1799 in Green County, Tennessee) and Perlina Proffett (married Israel on 24 February 1818 in Green County, Tennessee). In turn, William David was the son of William Black (b. 16 June 1764 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and d. before 1830 in Green County, Tennessee) and Ellender or Eleanor Miller (b. 13 October 1770 in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina and married William on 19 April 1791 in Green County, Tennessee). This William was the son of David Black (b. ~1744 near Charlotte, Mecklenberg County, North Carolina) and Eleanor Unknown. Most records of Israel Black's genealogy show that he and Elizabeth Stringer had the f!
ollowing children, i.e., Elizabeth Mary, Israel, Sarah E., Nancy Jane, William Henry, Mahala Eveline, John F., Lovina (Lovey) Ann, George Washington, Wiley J., and Cora May. There may have been one or two additional children. The 1880 Census shows that Israel and his wife Elizabeth were living on a farm near Spring Creek, Phelps County, Missouri, with the following children living at home, i.e., John F., Mahala, Loocy (probably Lovina/Lovey Ann), George W., Waley, Cora and Israel. It appears that Israel married for a second time to Margaret Kelly in December 1901 following the death of Elizabeth Ann in April of 1901. One reference in the LDS database indicates that Elizabeth Ann Stringer was the daughter of John Eli Stringer of Tennessee which would agree with the location of her father's birth stated in the 1880 Census. Afraid that this is all that I have on Israel Black's lineage but hope it helps some.

Arlin Benjamin
