Mary Ann,
I have very little on your Albert Sydney Johnson Black but what I have may be of some help. Albert Sydney Johnson Black was born about 1863 (probably closer to 1865) in Texas (possibly Kaufman County) and married Mary Elizabeth Forbes on 15 January 1890. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of Harvey Pryor Forbes (b. 29 April 1840 in Mississippi and d. 27 April 1917 in Perryton, Ochiltree County, Texas and is buried in Perryton) and Ann Elizabeth Bostick (died in Pampa, Texas). To my knowledge there is no information on Albert's parents that is available on the free genealogical web sites. The Genealogy.com county web sites for Reeves and Ochiltree counties in Texas are not very complete and the site for San Juan County in New Mexico is practically non-existent. There were a handfull of Blacks living in the Pecos, Texas area during the mid- and late-1800s but I have seen no way to connect them to your Albert. I doubt if Albert was a general but he certainly was named after!
a famous Civil War CSA general. His father-in-law did serve in the CSA during the Civil War. Should I find more information I will send you an e-mail.
