I am currently in the process of recreating genealogical information which I lost a few years back. I may be able to recover some of this information if my sister still has my old computer in her attic. The information which I lost were the notes and source information. I had found a source for the marriage of John S. Redwine and Martha J. Black after I gave my sister my old computer, so even if she still has the computer, that information would not be on it. Source information is very important to me, as I'm sure you can understand. I'd send you other source material, but as of right now, I don't have source material to prove that my Martha J. Redwine was, in fact, maiden named Black and that she was George R. Blacks daughter. Eventually I be able to prove it.
This is what I'm pretty sure of. Martha J. Black married John S. Redwine, probably Whitfield/Murray County, Ga in Abt. 1871, this information is based on Census information for the couple in the 1930 U. S. Census of Comanche Co., Texas. John S. Redwine served in the 29th Georgia Infantry during the Civil War. His father William T. Redwine also served, but, for some reason served in the 39th Ga., Infantry. William T Redwine was captured at Jonesboro during Sherman's "March to the Sea", he died in a Confederate Prisoner of War Camp at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois.
Marriage records from Murray Co., Ga. indicate that George R. Black Jr. may have married sisters Abigail and Keziah Swan. I say this because, in the 1850 Census, George R. Black Jr. has children before he and Keziah are married (21 March 1848). Two children are listed as being born after this marriage, they are Malvina H. Black (2 years old) and Mary M. Black (5/12 yrs. old -- 5 months old). The date on this census is 17 October 1850. I've included an attached file concerning Malvina (Black) Masters Obit. In this document, Malvina birthday is given as December 17, 1848, almost 9 months to the day of George R.Black's marriage to Keziah. Malvina Black Masters was Keziah's child, but I doubt that the other children in the 1850 census were Keziah's, I believe that they had another mother, and I believe that these older children were Abigail Swan's children. Note that John S. Redwine's (Martha J. Black Redwine's husband) name is spelled "Redmine", at first I thought this !
was a misspelling from the newspaper (Comanche Chief), but I've also seen Civil War indexes with note that J. S. Redmine is one and the same as John S. Redwine.
I'd be happy to share any information I have and I'm interested in any information you might have concerning the Black, Redwine and Rollins connection for Comanche Co., Texas and Murray/Whitfield Counties, Georgia.
A permanent way of making contact with me is (must be all lower case)
Thanks,
Bill Rollins
