My gg grandparents were Rhoad & Mary polly (Black) Barton. Mary was said to be full blood Cherokee born in Tn. (a couple have said Al.) in 1816-1819. They were married in Il. They ended up in Mo., Reynolds Co./Oregon Co. There were several Blacks and Bartons. My g grandmother is there daughter Rebecca who married John Bond Blankenship in Mo. There are so many Johns, James, Marys, Rebeccas etc that it is very hard to put it all together. Rhoad was said to be 1/2 Indian. I have never been able to trace Mary's parents or siblings but some say her father should have been William or Samuel who were both came to Il. at about the same time. I have been told that she had a brother named James and possibly a sister named Rebecca. If any of this rings a bell contact me. If anyone else has info on any of thes people I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Kay
