Hi Teressa - I still haven't come across Abraham's will but here is the one for Adam Black - believe I have copies of both and decided to transcribe Adam's as it was "slightly" easier to read than Abraham's - will keep looking......Lorna

Adam Black, Will:
Be it Known that I Adam Black of Cabell County & State of Virginia though weak of body and frailty of old age am of ___ and disposing mind, do make Constitute & Ordain this last will and testament, revoking all other wills & testaments herefore made. In the words & figures following (to wit). After My Just debts & funeral expences are paid, I give & bequeath to my beloved wife, One Hundred dollars in gold, My two Black women Polly & Sarah & one third part of all my landed estate. Said landed Estate to be held as dower only.
Article 2nd: I give and bequeath one thousand dollars to each of my children in land or money including receipts now given or that may be given previous to my death (to Wit) To my Son James C. Black one thousand, to my son John Black one thousand and to my (grand?) son James R. Black one thousand; to my Son William Black one thousand, To my Son Wilson C. Black one thousand, To my Daughter Sally Summers one thousand, to My Daughter Eliza Ann McCown one thousand, and My Daughter Maletta Thomas & husband William Thomas is to have a lifetime estate in the ___ farm on which they live, by paying to my grandson James R. Black five hundred dollars when he becomes twenty one years of age (which five hundred dollars is to be apart of the thousand named above. Which said farm at the death of my daughter Malitta & her Husband William Thomas is to go to the children & heirs of my Daughter Malitta Thomas, And I also give & bequeath to my Daughter Malitta Thomas & the heirs of her bo!

Article 3rd: I give & bequeath to my daughter Eliza Ann McCown & the heirs of her body the three lots in Millersport Gallia County Ohio & one Lot in the Edge of said Town with a large farm House ___ which I rate nine hundred dollars, It being apart of the thousand named on the first page, And also My Black boy Richard to be hired out, for the benefit of my daughter Eliza & the Heirs of her body,
Article 4th: I give & bequeath to my grandson James R. Black my Black boy Ben, which he now has in possession,
Article 5th: I give & bequeath to my Son James C Black, Black boy Tom which he sold to William Thomas,
Article 6th: I give & bequeath to my son John Black, black boy Frederick also My desk,
Article 7th: I give & bequeath to my Son William Black a certain Boundary of land. Supposed to be one hundred acres, Beginning at a black walnut tree on Edward ___ of the ___ ___ lot then East with the ___ of the Turn Pike road (so as to include the Blacksmiths Shop to the first culvert East of My House, Thence south with a crop fence to John P. Duvals back line, Thence with said line to a poplar tree comes between My Land & the Land of Daniel Love, Thence with Loves line to said Malcoms line & with it to the beginning. I also give my Son William My Black boy Wesley to be hired out for his benefit during said boys lifetime,
Article 8th: I give & bequeath to my Son Wilson C. Black My black boy Murry (Mung?) to be hired out during said boys natural life for said Wilsons benefit,
Article 9th: I also give my daughter Sally Summers my black girl Ann & her increase.
It is also my desire that if it should be thought most adviseable & beneficial for the Interest of these Heirs whose negros are directed to be hired out in this will, that they should be sold to keep them from running off or doing some Mischief. I want My Executors to sell them & pay the money that each is sold for to the heir they are willed to - It is also my desire that after the foregoing Legacies are all paid out & the expenses of Settling my Estate are also defrayed ___ Should be Equally divided among all My Heirs -
I also Constitute & appoint My Son James C. Black and my son in law George W. Summers My Executors to this my last will & testament. In ___ whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this 4th day of June in the year 1855.

Codicil:
On thinking over how I had made my will I found that I had not disposed home place or given My Son John his thousand dollars in land, And it is my will & desire that My executors sell the ___ of my landed Estate and pay My son John one thousand dollars as named in the foregoing will out of the sale of said lands and then the ___ to be equally divided among all My Heirs aforesaid.
In testimony whereof I hereto Set My hand and affix My seal this 11th day of June 1855.

The foregoing last will & testament of Adam Black Dec'd was this day presented in court & was proved by the oath of Daniel Love & John Sexton the Subscribing witnesses thereto the same is ordered to be Recorded.
