Have a John Black b. ca 1820 (brother of my gr gr gr father) - Tracked him
to about 1840-50 and cannot find him after that.
Family originally from Carolinas/Georgia, then sometime before 1844 found
them in Benton county Ala. tax list.
Father died before 1850, but brothers in Cherokee Co. and Dade Co. at that
time. Then some of the family iin Etowah Co. and vicinity until present
time. Rest of family to Arkansas and Texas about 1880. My branch of the
family was affiliated with the Whorton family -- and I know they, in turn
had a Garrison connection. BUT no direct link to Black/Garrison or to
Archibald Black that I am aware of.
Do you have any idea about your John's birth place or date of birth???
Can provide more information if the time period seems right for your John.

> In my North Alabama Garrison family, I have John Black married to Mary Ann
Garrison Dec 30, 1869, she was dau of James Catlett Garrison. Also I have
Cynthia Leona Garrison, dau of Newton Dillard Garrison (son of James Catlett
Garrison), married to Archibald Black Sep 18, 1902. Does anyone have these
two Blacks in their lines?
