Message Board Post:

I am searching for sources with information on the Scot and Scot-Irish Blacks who immigrated to PA in the early part of the 18th century.

I assume that most would have landed at Philadelphia. From there it appears individuals went to Chester Co, PA, and south to Virginia and the Carolinas by the time of the Am Rev.

Who are the original immigrants? Ship(s)? Where were they from? Who were their ancestors and siblings? Where did they live in the US? Where are they buried? What are the primary sources?

I am attempting to tie together pieces of Black families found throughout this time period in PA, MD and the southern colonies. Or has this already been accomplished?

A unified genealogy of these Black immigrants would go a long way toward clarifying the relationships of the numerous individuals with this surname during this time period in our history. And be most helpful to the many researchers striving to make sense of the confusing data.

Help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
