Cindy,

I have very little on your Thomes Black but do have data on his parents and siblings. The 1880 U. S. Census shows you Thomes Black as Thomas D. Black who was born about 1879 in Center, Rush County, Kansas. Thomas D. Black was the only child of David Y. Black and Mary A. Henderson that was born in Kansas. David Y. Black was born in Pennsylvania about 1836 and indicated that his parents were also born in Pennsylvania. Mary A. Henderson was born in Pennsylvania about 1846 and her parents were also born in that state. Thomas D. Black had eight siblings of whom all were born in Pennsylvania, i.e., John H. (b. ~1861), Minnie E. (b. ~1864), Ida E. (b. ~1866), Harriet B. (b. ~1868), Robert R. (b. ~1870), Nancy E. (b. ~1872), Ella (b. ~1874), and George (b. ~1876). It appears that David Y. Black migrated from Pennsylvania to Rush County, Kansas in the 1877-1878 time frame. Will let you know should I run across and further details on David Y. Black's lineage in Pennsylvania.
