Elizabeth,
I have limited information on your David Black and Margaret Clyde but I do not have an Ireland connection. My records show that David Black (b. 19 September 1845 in New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland) married Margaret Clyde on 4 December 1868 in Cumbernauld, Dunbarton, Scotland. Margaret Clyde was the daughter of Samuel Clyde (b. 1828 in Scotland and d. 28 June 1882 in Cumbernauld, Dunbarton, Scotland) and Margaret McGhee who married Samuel in December 1849 in New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland. Samuel Clyde's parents were John Clyde and Margaret McMurdie. I believe that David Black's parents were David Black (b. ~1825 in New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland) and Elisabeth Brown who married David in July 1841 in New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland. It is also my feeling that both David Black,Sr. and Samuel Clyde migrated from Lanark, Scotland to Dunbarton, Scotland where David, Jr. and Margaret were married and raised their family. My records also show that David and Margaret had five c!
hildren, i.e., Elisabeth, Margaret, Joseph, Samuel and Martha. David Black, Jr. had the following siblings, i.e., James (b. 1851), Robert (b. 31 December 1843), Agnes (b. 5 September 1847), Gavin (b. 3 May 1858), Andrew (b. 29 March 1863) and Elisabeth (b. 14 April 1856). Proving that this David Black, Jr. is the son of David Black and Elizabeth Brown probably can only be accomplished through written records found in Lanark, Scotland. Afraid this is all that I have. Most of the above can be found in current LDS records and from web sites identified on the various Black Family message boards.
