I am seeking information about my 3rd great grandfather, Robert BLACK, a
blacksmith, born c 1841 in Scotland, m. Elisabeth STEVENSON in Glasgow in
1865 at the age of 24, emigrated to TN in about 1876 with his wife and
their daughter Marion (b. 1865). Robert died in about 1879, after
fathering two more children with Elisabeth: Isabella (b. 1877) and Robert
A. (b. c 1879, d. 1892 in Chicago). Either shortly before or shortly after
the family moved to Chicago, Robert Black died, but I don't know if he died
in Chicago or TN. I don't have access to 1880 mortality schedules, so I am
not able to look up his exact date/cause/location of death in this way. He
does not appear to be elder Robert Black shown in the Illinois Death index
pre-1916, though the younger one is apparently his and Elisabeth's youngest
child.

If anyone can help me know what exactly happened to Robert, I would be very
grateful.

His parents in Scotland were Robert C Black and Margaret WATSON.
