Thanks to all of you, I have learned that William P.'s first marriage was to Mary Ellen Black. I understand they had 4 children: William Shick, Jr.; Charles; Samuel; and Sarah Catherine. Mary Ellen Black Shick died in 1884. I can't find the children in the census records. Do you know who the children lived with after their mother's death? They weren't living with their father in 1900. Can anyone help?
