Iâd like to connect with anybody researching âmyâ Black family.
John A. Black was born abt. 1836 in Georgia. He married Celia Ann E., who was born in Alabama. I found them in Franklin County, Alabama, in the 1860 census. In the 1880 U.S. Federal Census, this family was found in Andrew County, Jefferson Township, Missouri. According to the LDS Web site, John A. Blackâs wife's name is listed as Elie; however, that is a transcription error. It is Celia. You can go to ancestry.com and verify that. Family knows that her full name was Celia Ann Eleanor Black.
Known children are:
F. A. Elizabeth (Eliza) Black
W. Riley Black
Isaac Black
Jane Black
Andrew Black
George Black
Mary Black
Charles Black
Henry F. Black
Note: Henry and Charles may be the same person because they were both born in 1875. My father knew Henry F. Black but Charles is listed on the 1880 census as born in 1875.
My ancestor, Eliza Black, married Clay Smith. They lived in Doniphan Co., Kansas, in the 1880 census. By 1882, Eliza had moved back to Andrew Co., Missouri, and re-married a James Monroe Williams.
John and his wife, Celia, moved with some of their children to Smithville, Arkansas, at some point in time. John, Celia, and Isaac are buried at the Townsend Cemetery in Smithville.
I would love to hear from anyone that has a family connection.
