Subject: [BLACK-L] webpage updated

Hi all. Just wanted to let you know that I am updating my rootsweb
webpages for these three lists currently. Check back periodically.
So far I don't have any real new information (permission is pending
for a couple of census records right now, hopefully that will come
through), but I'm making the pages a little more "user friendly" I
think...hope :o) I'm working on changing the text all to bold, since
I am losing my vision gradually I know how hard it can be to read the
pages with a background, but it's downright boring to look at with no
background. Being disabled myself, I want to make this site as
streamlined as possible for people who view the page using special
text-to-speech programs and such. With the exception of the ELLER
page, I have fixed the broken links to the message boards. Since the
merger of Rootsweb and Ancestry.com, the old message boards that I
maintained (there were 8 I think) no longer exist and they are all
consolidated into one BIG board that is maintained by Ancestry.com.
I will try tonight to fix the ELLER link, but in the meantime, the
address is:
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/an/surnames.eller
Send me those census, bios, marriage records, ect. you would like
posted on the webpage ASAP! Remember, I go back to school on August
20th so after that, my time is extremely limited, so send it in
before the 20th if possible. If anyone would like to volunteer to
transcribe records for me while I'm in school, or help prepare them
for the webpage, let me know know. Unless you request otherwise, I
may send you documents not related to your particular area (ex:
someone on the BLACK list may get a record for ELLER to transcribe,
etc) since I have 9 surnames connected to the main webpage and more
coming soon! One of the projects coming soon that I am currently
working on is about free blacks in NC before the Civil War.
Documents from this project (this is part of my masters thesis) will
be eventually transcribed and put online through my webpage.
I really want to make the page a success and that will only happen if
everyone pitches in, either information (perferrably) or
transciption. Good luck everyone and lets find lots of new
cousins!!!
Erin
