Hello RMC,
I have some info. also on Abel Black. He married my 3rd Gr.Grandmother who was Charity Baze. She first married a James Ross in 1841 in McNairy Co. TN. They had 3 children. He was suppose to have died in 1850 before the census were taken in Barry Co. Mo. Charity was not a Jones. It was a mistake when the recorder from the Court House wrote down her name. It was an oversight on that person filling out the marriage record as her middle name was Jane,,,,,,,and they wrote it down as Jones....leaving offf her last name. This confused me for years....and kept looking for a Charity Jones,,,,till we had our Ross Famly Reunion back in 1998 and a lady came in from Ca. from Abel and Charity and told us what her last name was....and it was Baze. I come from her first marriage, James Ross. Her name is also confusing at times as she went by Charity but aka Charlotte. You will find her on the Barry Co. 1860 census as Charlotte Black. She married Abel May 30, 1852 in Cassville,Bar!
ry Co. Mo. They they had 4 children. I have all this info...if you need it.
