Hello,

I'm new to the list and was wondering if anyone is familiar with the Black
family of Cocke CO., TN?

Looking for parents of Nathaniel "Nathan" Black b/ 1808 & md. Susan (LNU) @
1820-1838.

The earliest I've found Nathan is in the 1850 Cocke Co. census with his wife
Susan & 4 of his children. In 1860 shows the rest of the children except Susan
is not mentioned. She must have died after the birth of her last child in
1856 or before the 1860 census was taken.

Speculation right now is that Nathan & his parents may have come from Burke
Co., NC?

Right now the only elders I have found in Burke Co., NC are from the1820
Burke Co. census which shows a John Black & Matthew Black. There's also a Robert
Black mentioned in the 1800 census at the age of @ 26-45, but no further
mention of him after that??

John stays throughout Burke County, NC while it looks like Matthew may have
moved to TN. There's also a Reuben Black b/@ 1769-1771 SC, that can be found
in Cocke CO., TN as well.

So there's 3 options as a parent/or grandparent to Nathaniel! Now which one
could it be?
