I'm trying to find parents of James Black who was married to Mary Carter in
1843 in Columbia County, PA. Mary's parents were William Carter and Anna
Vandling. William, William's parents, William and Mary, plus a son of James and
Mary Black and many of Anna Vandlings ancestors and relatives are buried in the
Old Chillesquaque Presbyterian Cemetery in Columbia or Montour County, PA. I
have been able to trace the Vandling line, but am stuck with the Carters and
Blacks. There is John and Hannah Black buried in the same cemetery but I have
not been able to connect them. I know this Black family had a son, Richard.
I have Hannah's will and there's no mention of James. I have John and Mary
Black to date and a scattering of Anna after she married a Christian or
Christopher Shell.
