I found in 1855 NY State Census that William Black and Margaret
Mitchell were married 1 year, he answered that he resided in the Town
of Kortright 1 year and was a naturalized citizen and she had stated
that she had resided in the town 2 years and was an alien. They
showed that they lived in a plank structure and had one daughter
Elizabeth less than a year old.

Jennie (Black) Smith and Legrand Smith were my great grand parents.
It appears that I now need to look at Ireland to New York ship
passenger lists and emigration lists for around 1849, for he became a
naturalized citizen in 1849 and I have to go back and look at land
records for 1850+.
