Message Board Post:

I have found a name recorded as William Black in old Bute County NC recorded there in 1740-1773 who was a miller and said to have come down from VA.

However, my ancestor, Charles Blackard lived closeby and was all recorded as Charles Black/Blacker/Blackam. Spelling was very unreliable so I am uncertain whether William was really a Black or another Blackard.

Can anyone identify this "William Black"?
