You might add Illinois to the list of places for Black families.
My gg grandfather was born in Ireland in 1808 (I don't know where) and was granted a land patent in Randolph County Illinois in 1840.
He married Ann McMillan in Randolph Copunty Jan. 21, 1841.
They had nine children, my g grandfather James was the next to last. He married Jenny Galoway Smith and lived in Garard Cpounty Kansas where my father George Thomas Black was born.
I would like to know where gg gather Thomas was born and when he came to the USA.
