Robert F. Black, NEW LONDON

Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003

NEW LONDON-Robert F. Black, 78, of The Seasons, died yesterday at
The Clough Center. He was born in Wellesley, Mass., the son of Frank and
Maude (Plummer) Black. He attended Newton, Mass., schools, graduating
from Newton High School in 1942. He graduated from Wesleyan University
after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific from 1943-1946. He was
a former owner and president of Ren Electronics in South Hadley Falls, Mass.,
and former owner and president of E.M.S. in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He
helped young people get started in small businesses and did some consulting.
He was also an avid tennis player and golfer. He is survived by his wife,
Rosemary (FitzGerald) Black of New London; a daughter, Sharon B. Wherry
of Lincoln, Neb.; two sons, Robert F. Black Jr. of Winchester and David R.
Black of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren; a sister, Marion
Kennedy of Orleans, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. Services will be private,
and burial will be in Elkins Cemetery, New London, in the spring. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Black Ink Gifts Fund No. 1139,
Massachusetts General Hospital, Fruit Street, Boston, Mass 02114. The
Chadwick Funeral Service of New London is in charge of arrangements.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Black.
