Susie,
I, too, am trying to find my Black line in Greene Co. Some of your family names are familiar. According to info in Waynesburg Lib., Jonathan & Lydia Black had daughter Rachel who married Edward Wood. I cannot find anything more on Jonathan or Lydia. There is a Lidda Black 69 living with Rachel & Edward & one of their daughters is named Lydia according to 1850 census. In 1860 census, there is also a William Black 19 and a Louise Black 14 living w/Edward & Rachel Wood. In 1870 census,
the daughter Lydia Wood has married William Black. What's interesting is that living next door to Wm & Lydia Black are Sidney 27 & Mariah 22 Black w/children John 2 & Mary or Marg 1. [Could this Sidney be Lindsey? ]
By 1880 Edward Wood has died and Rachel 63 is living with her "sister" Jane Black 62 in Waynesburg. Rachel is shown as being born in WVa with Jane born in Pa. Both list UNK as place of father's birth and Md as place of mother's birth.
I descend: Edward & Rachel Black Wood > Elmina Wood > Lucinda Wood m. Wm. Lindsey Estle > Minnie Palmetta Estle m Charles F. Engle > Carrie Emma Engle (my grandmother).
Any help???
Linda Smith
