Iam searching for information on the family of JOHN BLACK, merchant in
Aberdeen. He had the folowing Children;Elizabeth, James,
John[b.abt.1764], Alexander[b. abt. 1767], William[b.abt. 1770] Andrew
who married Helen Pirie, and Margaret who married William Wedderburn.
William and his brother John came to St. John New Brunswick,Canada
about 1798, in search of white pine trees as masts for large sailing
vessels. William remained in New Brunswick while John went on to
Halifax Nova Scotia to do the same. They gradually enlarged their
business and became very succcessful merchants and very prominent
citizens each being appointed to the General Council of their respective
provinces prior to confederation.William died in Canada while John died
in Aberdeen Scotland on a return visit
Any information on the members of this family would be very much
apprecited.
