Just doing a simple look at the Augusta Co, VA I have found a large number of Blacks. This has been done only by looking at Chalkey's on the internet. It would appear to me at this point that Augusta Co, VA is where primary documents need to be checked for information about John/Jake/or whoever, the husband of Mary Black of Sumner Co, TN. This very quick look does not show Rippeys in the same area, but there are many other Sumner Co names.
