Hello. We have a BLACK in our COBB family from NC... Lincoln County.

Rachel BLACK married Ambrose COBBS. Ambrose COBBS was the brother of my 5th
great-grandfather - James Cobb who married Sarah Ann Beach. His line was
originally from VA and TN. Reece/Reese is a last name that is found among
the Cherokees as is BLACK. Now, Augustus is a name of a Cherokee Chief...
Augustus Bowles... It has been said that he was not Cherokee... but adopted
and he because one of the most famous Chiefs. Just sharing some history.

Our Rachel (Black) COBBS is said to have been a Cherokee mixedblood...
although some may disagree, many of their descendents still feel very strong
about their Cherokee heritage. I do also as I also have Cherokee blood from
at least 3 out of 4 great-grandparents... so that makes me Cherokee and I am
proud of that. I am also English, Kent, Scots, Irish, German, French
Canadian, and French.
