WALTER L. BLACK OF PENNSYLVANIA
Walter L. Black, 80, of Transfer RD 1, formerly of New Hamburg, died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1978, in Greenville Hospital following a four week illness.
Mr. Black was born Oct. 20, 1898, in Pittsburgh to Lowry and Mary Smith Black. He married Elizabeth Buchner on May 6, 1926. She died on July 9, 1969.
He was a retired employee of the Greenville Steel Car Co. and was a member of the Retired Employees Association of that company.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Transfer.
He is survived by his son, Walter L., of Benton Harbor, Mich., three daughters, Mrs. Mary Taylor, Wexford, Pa., Mrs. Anthony (Louise) Gerald, of Fredonia, and Mrs. Robert (Elva) Fye, Transfer, with whom he resided; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister, one stepsister, one brother, and three stepbrothers.

BLACK -- Walter L., 80, of Transfer RD 1, Pymatuming, Twp.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, in the Donald E. Bleakney Funeral Home, Fredonia, with Rev. J. Miles Walthour, pastor of the United Church of Christ, officiating.
Committal service 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wexford, Pa., with Rev. Richard Mowry, pastor of Mt. Pleasant United Presbyterian Church, Wexford, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wexford.
