George Robert Black, born 1862 Aug. 30 Southwark, Surrey,UK, died Toronto, Canada, 1935-36, was my paternal grandfather. The son of George Black and Mary Sara KENT, he married Flora WEST, of Bermondsey (1889 Nov. 2), moved to West Ham where my father, Frederic West Black, was born (1903 Dec. 7), and emigrated with his family to Toronto early in 1904. There has been a family story that these Blacks were of Scottish origin but so far I have been unable to find out
anything more about George Robert Black's ancestry.
