Message Board Post:

I am seeking information and/or descendants of a Craig and a Davidson family who lived in the Green Island/Cohoes/Waterford areas of Albany and Saratoga Counties in New York State from 1850 to at least 1900.

The family immigrated from Northern Ireland: Embarked Liverpool, England, ship Gipsey, arrived New York 18 May 1850:
Abram or Abraham Craig, age 50, b.c.1800-relationship to rest of family unknown, possible father
The following known brothers/sisters: (links are proven despite the age range being so broad)
Jane Craig Turner b.c. 1816 and her son Adam Turner b.c.1835
Thomas Craig b.c. 1823 and his wife Ellen Unknown Craig b.c. 1825
Margaret Craig b.c.1828
Henry G. Craig b.c. 1840-2
Other assumed family members of unknown relationship:
Nancy Craig b.c. 1820
Helen Craig b.c. 1824
Sarah Craig b.c.1828 (listed as same age as Margaret)
James Craig b.c.1833
Abram or Abraham Craig b.c.1835 (I would think a likely son of the older Abram/Abraham)
Maria Craig b.c. 1838

Known descendants and marriages:
Thomas Craig and Ellen: Abram b.c. 1853, Ann, b.c. 1855, Margaret b.c.1857 m2 Mary Ann Roots: son Thomas, b.c. 1875

Henry died 1912, New Haven CT. Henry, Henrietta, Isabella, Alexander and Alfred buried Waterford Rural Cemetery, Waterford, NY.
Margaret, Jane Turner, and Thomas all at one time or another lived in Cohoes.

Next generation:
John H. Craig m1 Helen Bondel m2 Grace, lived New Haven CT
Joseph V. Craig m. Jessie unknown, lived New Jersey and East Haven, CT, children: Elizabeth b.c. 1901 and Jessie O. b.c. 1803; Jessie O. m. Richard Brewer, .lived Branford CT, had son Richard Brewer.

Alfred d. young
Henrietta (Nettie) m. at least one time, had at least one son: Bedell Unknown. Lived Green Island.
George Rice Craig m. Elsie Cory: children Wilmot, George E., Janet.

In the 1890 Troy Directory, an Alexander Davidson appears living with the Henry Craig family. Henry Craig and the three older sons were carpenters and carriagemakers. The three oldest sons worked on the trolleys in New Haven CT.

If you have any information about any of this family, I would love to compare notes with you. There is also a Black family of the Springfield (Indian Orchard) MA area that seems to have some relationship to the Davidson family.
